Yixing Zisha Tea Caddy Jar w/ Peony Carving & Original Paper

Authentic Chinese Yixing zisha (purple clay) tea caddy, featuring a hand-carved peony floral motif, a traditional symbol of prosperity and refinement in Chinese art.

This jar is made from natural, unglazed Yixing clay, prized for its breathable qualities that help preserve the aroma and freshness of tea leaves. The form and fitted inner lip are designed specifically for tea storage rather than brewing.

The underside bears a studio seal mark indicating a Yixing ceramic art workshop. While not attributed to an individual master potter, the craftsmanship, carving quality, and clay are consistent with mid–late 20th century Yixing studio production (circa 1970s–1990s).

Included inside is the original Chinese paper insert, which describes the clay, intended tea-storage use, and care recommendations—an increasingly uncommon survival that adds collector interest.
