This offering is for a vintage oval-shaped gravy dish with attached underplate. This discontinued piece was crafted by Sango China in occupied Japan (1945-52). There is gold trim on the rim and base of the gravy dish, and on the underplate with heavier trim at the oval ends. The pattern consists of pink and orange roses with blue-green leaves on a white porcelain background. This piece is beautiful despite its age with no cracks, scratches, chips, stains, or crazing. According to Replacements, the pattern is SAN5. At the time of this posting Replacements was asking about $100 for this piece.
This beautiful oval gravy dish measures about 7-1/2” x 4-3/4” and the underplate measures approximately 9-1/2” x 6”. It stands about 3” tall.
