nonnative was founded in 1999 by Satoshi Saffen, a former model.
The brand name means "not belonging, not inherent."
Takayuki Fujii, a graduate of Musashino Art University and formerly a staff member at BEAMS and SILAS, joined as a designer in 2001.
Based on outdoor and military themes, the brand is characterized by highly sophisticated pieces that minimize waste and interpret practicality and comfort in a minimalist way.
In 2005, they opened vendor, a directly managed store and select shop in Daikanyama, and have collaborated with various brands such as New Balance, N.HOOLYWOOD, White Mountaineering, and TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist., creating urban and natural casual tech wear.

The thin, firm sweatshirt fabric with a solid knit has a fleece-like backing, providing high heat retention despite its appearance. It features ribbed sides, side pockets, a U-neck, and a diagonal pocket on the left chest, which serves as an accent. This is a tech-minimal, functional military vest inspired by outdoor hiker vests and special forces/tactical vests.
It is reminiscent of Helmut Lang's bulletproof vest.
